I'm looking for this recipe where you do not have to cook the chicken before putting it into the crock pot. then you simply pour salsa over top and let it cook. How long should i let the chicken cook in the crock pot?

Salsa Chicken

4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
1 envelope taco seasoning mix
1 cup salsa
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup light sour cream

Spray crock pot with cooking spray. Add the chicken breasts. Sprinkle with taco seasoning.
Top with salsa. Cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours.

When ready to serve, remove the chicken from the pot. Place cornstarch in a small amount of water and stir well. Stir the cornstarch mixture into salsa sauce. Stir in sour cream.

Salsa Chicken

5 pounds frozen chicken breast
1 (16 ounce) jar medium salsa
Rice or noodles, for serving (optional)

Arrange the chicken in a crock pot. Pour the salsa over chicken. Cover, and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours or on HIGH for 5 to 6 hours.

Prepare rice or noodles; serve chicken over rice or noodles
Serve with hot, cooked rice.

I cook it on low all day -- probably about 9 hours. I just put boneless skinless chicken breasts in the crock-pot, top with a jar of salsa and put on the lid and turn it on low.

You can also substitute cherry pie filling for the salsa. I am being serious here -- it tastes like sweet and sour chicken and I serve it over rice. I even use the sugarless cherry pie filling. For a more sweet sour flavor, mix the cherry pie filling with a packet of dry onion soup mix. Don't add any water to the soup mix, just mix the dry mix into the pie filling.

I have never heard of cooking chicken before putting it in the crock pot. Maybe you mean a quick pan fry to seal the meat and add color. It's basically the easiest recipe and tastes great. You just place the chicken pieces - legs, breasts whatever you are using and dump a bottle of salsa over it. Cook slow 6-8 hours or high between 4-5 hours depending on your unit.
I like to add a few things like black pepper and maybe some garlic.
Serve with rice and you have a meal!
