What is the Point of Debating?

Why do so many people want to Debate others to try and convert them?

I don't have any solid Proof that my God is the real God or that he even exists, i will readily admit that, and I TOTALLY SUCK at debating :) lol "i'm a loving not a fighter"
And when I get into debates I pretty much shut down, I don't debate the other person, I just sit there listening to what they have to say, they make very good points, and I always end up agreeing with the other person, but they never get me to convert. . .
some people may have silver tongues and good points or many proofs that their religion is true, but I will never convert just because someone tells me that I should, the only way I will convert is if my heart tells me to. Faith is to beleive without needing proof, and religion is based on faith. Now don't get me wrong for some people Proof may be a good thing, but I don't need it.

So we now know why you don't like debating.

Do you really want to know why we like it? It seems more of a "I have to get this off my chest" moment.
