What is the pay structure like at Cricket?

First, I am a brand new meraber, thanks for having me.

Secondly, I am currently a VZW employee, and after all the jagging around HQ has done with our payout structure, I am looking at other carriers to see what they can offer. I like VZW, but with the ridiculous pay cuts, I am finding that I just can not afford to work there. For example, it has been common that sales reps used to be able to pull in $2000 - $2500 a month in commissions, but now are barely able to pull in $1500, many even less. But, I digress, this is not a VZW bash, just an inquiry about what the normal salary is like at a corporate Cricket store as a sales rep.

Thank you.

hourly pay with a performance bonus every quarter depending on how your market does. You get 40 hours of sick time a year that if not all used they pay out at the end of the year. You will also accrue time off at 2.5 hours a week every week towarRAB your vacation. Benefits are pretty good, the customers that you will deal with will suck, for the most part. After almost two years there I left making 13.50 an hour. I make more now working for a respectable indirect dealer that sells more that just cricket. Hope that helped

Great question! I get email updates regularly on Cricket jobs in my market, though I work for Cingular. I have applied to work for Cricket but never get any call backs. I'm wondering if I'm overqualified or if they will assume I will want more than they can pay?

I believe in the Cricket product and it just works for me. It IS the best thing, IMO, since sliced bread in wireless service offerings. I do NOT and will not have Cingular service, not even the employee plan. They have taken away many great things from employees that we used to have with the former AT&T Wireless company.

Phelonius - No offense, but what was your title when you left Cricket? I'm making more than what you left making and I just answer calls (tech support calls, that is). But, allow me to add that I did not come in making that amount, I've worked my way up to it.

SpringfieldXD - Keep shooting for Cricket, you may get into a position you like. My other advice to you is to not consider Cingular as a company to work for. I'm looking to leave now and have been for awhile.

Well, like I said, I do sales at a corporate VZW store, but since they keep scewing us on commissions, raise our quotas, and basically piss on us while claiming that it is only raining, I am indeed thinking about moving. In the old days, which were not long ago, it was relatively easy to upsell your customers, put forth some effort, and pull in an easy $45k to $50k a year. Now, if you bust your *** you will be lucky to clear $40k, and that is by doing cold calls, and get borderline shady with your selling techniques. Needless to say, I feel I was sold a bill of gooRAB with this job that has not materialized. However, $13.50 and hour would still be less than what I make here.

Damn.

Have you considered going into a different industry altogether?

I have an IT support background but getting back into that field has been nearly impossible, though I'm still trying. What I don't like about being in the wireless industry, depending on what you do, is that the bulk of your skills are first only great to another wireless company.

Great discussion. I started my business as an indirect delaer for all of the major providers. The BS mentioned here is no different on the indirect side.

Knowing the industry and being able to see the 'writing on the wall', I slowly shifted my business model. We are no a fully independent wireless service center. We no longer do activations (no commissions, chargebacks or other BS). We repair and flash hanRABets, sell accessories and insurance, and do contract volume refurbing and outsourced repair work.

Nice to know that the retail channel is no better.

not really true. There are plenty of other places to go within Cricket. Admin jobs, networking, indirect. Working in the stores isnt the only option.

Hello fellow merabers,

I hope that anyone in this site can shed some light working for cricket. I have receieved a job offer as a Indirect account manager in the new st louis market, and wanted to know a bit about their culture and how they are to work for. Do they have a bright future or will they merge w/ metro PCS and will be out of a job soon?? They gave me a great offer but is it really worth it?? Any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
