what is the oldest a baby can swing in in a babyswing?

My kids used a swing until about 8 months old but it varies with each child. I knew it was time to stop using the swing when the baby was big enough to stick his or her head out to one side and bump it on the metal bar. As soon as they did that the swing would be packed away.

it's really just a weight limit. The swing will tell you the restrictions. As far as age - my son enjoyed it about the first month of life. He had a Graco Soothing Center and would only sleep in there. After the first month, he hated it LOL. And after the first few months, he'd fight his way out of it or scream if he couldnt figure out a way to sit up in it and try to climb out.

SOme babies are cuddlers and like to be rocked - and that they may never grow out of! They would enjoy a swing much longer than a different baby who, for instance, can't sit still and constantly wants to move and explore. Just depends!

My baby could defeat the safety restraint by that point, but the instruction on my swing (its a GRACO) says that when the baby is over 20 lbs, if the feet touch the floor, or if the child grabs the supports to discontinue use, and common sense would tell you that if the child can remove the tray the swing isn't safe.
