I live in a border town, Mexico is about 20 minutes away. My car was stolen on 5/16/09 and was located in Mexico at the end of May. It is now July and I have yet to see my vehicle. I reported it to police and insurance. From what I understand my insurance is looking over the car and then I will see it. Does anyone know if the police or customs check my car to see if there was any contraband hidden in my car? Or does my insurance take care of this? or do I have to ask my insurance to do this?
I also want to know if I should insist that the insurance take my car to the dealer to make sure the theives or Mexican police did not take out any of my original parts. My car is a 2006 and I have always taken it to the dealer since I bought it in 06. (I bought it from the dealer brand new).
