What is the most commonly learned musical instrument?

I am just wondering what's the most common musical instrument people want to learn how to play.
 
I am going to say it is a draw between guitar and piano. Both are wonderful to learn to play.
 
guitar or piano. they are kinda similar and its really easy to learn. especially guitar
 
I agree with guitar and piano, but am going to throw PERCUSSION into that - it seems little boys (and girls) in elementary school, LOVE to play percussion, and in the schools that I have worked with, we always have quadruple the amount of first year percussionists than any other instrument. Plus, there is no reeds, no embouchures, and at first, VERY little to have to carry back and forth.
 
the statistics i learned in college said guitar is now the most learned instrument in america, (almost 4 to 1 over piano). the greatest reasons for this are its popularity and transportability-lets face it you never see anybody at the beach with a piano!
 
in our school there is 3 flutes 2 clarinets (including me) 4 trumpets 1 alto sax 2 trombones (Me too) 16 drummers and 3 guitars.
So i would have to say drums
