Are they shown the same respect as the incumbent President? If a former President walked down the street, would a military member salute? Would the former President respond by saluting back? What is the protocol with regard to former Presidents (if any)?
I ask this because I remember watching Obama's inaugural last year, exactly at 12 noon, members of the military stopped saluting President Bush and started saluting President Obama - with MILITARY precesion ... ha~ no pun intended.
