What was the Megarian Decree? And what date in time did it approximately take place? Who wrote the Megarian Decree? Who is speaking in the Megarian Decree? What is the issues/ historical significance of the decree? Please help! I'm so confused! I think it was Thucydides who wrote the decree but I'm not sure.
 
The Megarian Decree was a set of economic sanctions levied upon Megara circa 432 BC by the Athenian Empire shortly formerly the epidemic of the Peloponnesian War. The inhabitants of Megara, a neighbor city of Athens, had cultivated land that was consecrated to Demeter, had killed an Athenian herald, and were accordingly punished. he decree banned Megarians from harbours and marketplaces throughout the large Athenian Empire, allegedly strangling the Megarian economy.
