What is the meaning that dogs and humans both "whine" the same way, for same reasons?

I think it is fascinating that both dogs and humans both a) make similar whining sounds while b) frustrated or upset. What does this indicate about some deeper level of emotion or beingness that we share with another species? In other words, not only is "whining" (and perhaps some other expressions of emotion) not only not culturally determined, but not even species determined either!
Senlin: So you think that if a dog was not in contact with humans, it would not whine--it is not an inherent characteristic?

Dogs have lived closely with humans since recorded time. And dogs are pack animals - they very much want to be part of the group. Dogs usually view humans as the pack leaders. So it is likely that they imitate and follow human behaviour, including whining behaviour.
