what is the matter with my little fish?

"i have a small calico fancy goldfish but he doesnt seem to be very well. he seems to just sit at the top of the tank and when he does swim he does not useall his fins, his dorsel fin seems to be down all the time too."
he is not jubby, he is only tiny, he has a water filter. i will try him in an unlit tank for a few days, and i will contact my vet. thx everyone for your help x
 
Orrr poor little one. Is he on the chubby side? if so mine used to be like that but he lived for a long time after. Is he still eating if so this is another good sihn. I dont know if you can do this but if you are worry and scared then take him to the vets i know it might sound silly. Maybe it is i dont know if you can take fish to the vets. Hope he is ok i am sure he will be.
 
my fish was like that and his water was clean and he was well looked after but he still died! if there is to much fish in the tank some will die!! if this does'nt help you, then ask the vet!!
 
Does he have a filter? If not.. when was the last time you changed his water? Try giving him some clean water, try to stress him out as little as possible, even giving him only dimmer light will help calm him down and allow him to heal more easily. Though you may need to go to a pet shop that sells fish and get him some kind of medicine for internal infections and talk to the people who run the shop. They will know what to do
