what is the law about living in 2 states?

I live in Wi, but my girlfriend lives in Il. She is 17. She is planning on moving in with me and my parents for a yr or so, but needs to keep her current address for 1 reason, but also needs an address here for school (which she'll be attending here), her job, and license. What do I need to do for this to work?
 
sorry but a person can only be considered a resident of one state....your gf will have to decide which state that she wants to be a resident of...
