Here in Kentucky a couple areas have major problems.

In Louisville (esp the western Ohio River waterfront) there are 3 coal belching power plants when fill the air with dust and mercury. Even worse are the gigantic mounds of Coal Ash which contain even higher amounts of mercury that the stack pipes. Wind storms pick up the ash and dump it in areas just downwind of the site

In Eastern KY strip mining for coal has caused major land slide and ground water problems

Nobody can beat the shithole i'm from, they call them the TAR PONDS (seriously) they give people who live around them cancer, and pollute all the water around them. i live in cape breton, nova scotia, canada. they are ponds that the old steel plant used to dump slag into and other chemicals, now the stupid government has to pay millions and millions of dollars to clean all that waste up.
