I wanted to write a children's rhyming book or a children's story book, but have been advised that the children's genre is going to be the toughest category as a first time author due to the fact it is over flooded with accomplished authors and celebrity's and because it's over extremely over populated and that only 5% of new authors even get to make any money if they are lucky enough to be published because of these reasons, so is there an easier category as a first time starter author? any help or advise you can throw my way would be greatly appreciated, :)
Sarah, we actually live in the millennium now dear, “once upon a time” is rather dated!
Twilight equals Buffy, I am not "delusional" however you are rude!! Why can't some people answer a question without having to be unnecessarily rude and bad mannered.

First off, if you are in it for the money, you may as well stop right now.
Most accomplished authors have spent years earning no respect or money for their work. Because of their love for the art, they persevered and gained acknowledgment for their work.
The publishing industry is as brutal and cut-throat as film and music industries, so you really have to do something different if you want to be recognized. Yes, the genre of children's books is full of accomplished authors, but provided you have the talent and a great love of writing, it is possible to "make it" as a children's author.
If you have your heart set on writing a book for children, don't give up that dream. There is no "easy" category, it varies depending on your writing style and interest.
What is important to remember is that many people's views on what is good writing differs based on personal preference so there is no right or wrong. Just do whatever comes most naturally to you, and hopefully you will succeed.
