What is the discount on an AT & T wireless phone when I'm eligable for upgrade?

If you have access to a radio shack, check out their phones. There selection is not as good but their prices are much better and they can do everything there. We got a new contract for my daughter there and and upgrade for me. Here's an example. Lg xenon was $39.99 at radio shack. At att it was $99 after the $50 rebate, which means you pay way more up front. My phone was free at radio shack and also $99 at att. You can do it all online too.
 
call customer support and see what they will give you to sign a new 2 year contract.
Hopefully they will give you 50 percent off the price.
 
If the phone is retail $399? Is there a standard or just it just depend? Can you give me examples of a deal you got at upgrade?
