I know the suffix "ology" means life and that any science ending with it is the study of a living thing. Such as biology, sociology, oncology, radiology, phsychology, etc, etc, etc. So what put the "ology" in the study of the cosmos and why isn't it studied in astronomy? Are we included in the cosmos, but not the universe?

Cosmology is under the umbrella of astronomy.

Cosmology deals with the evolution of the universe.

Astronomy encompasses the study of all parts of the universe, observational astronomy, celestial mechanics, orbital parameters, cosmology, nucleosynthesis, etc...
