What is the difference between the S50 and the S83?

Everything is different. Other than styling, these two bikes have almost nothing in common.
Both are narrow, chopper-like cruisers, both are renamed models dating to the 1980s, and both have a reputation for being very durable. Both have a hydraulic clutch.

The S50 is 800ccs and water cooled, very light, agile, and quick as all get out. It had a rear drum brake. The S83 is a larger 1400cc air/ oil cooled motor, in a larger frame with longer forks. It is taller, longer, heavier. It has a higher top speed but is not as quick. It has a rear disk brake and larger & wider tires.
 
Jason, nearly every motorcycle designation with a number is a reference to its engine displacement. Two-digit numbers usually refer to cubic inches, except in the case of small dirtbikes. Three- or four-digit numbers represent cubic centimeters (why it's not milliliters I can't say).

In many cases, numbers are rounded or changed slightly for the benefit if commercial appeal. In other words, almost no 600 or 750 actually has an engine displacing 600 or 750 cc. Most displace slightly less than the model designation would indicate. Some models with odd designations, such as the Honda 599, Kawasaki Ninja 636, Harley Sportster 883, or almost any Italian bike indicate the actual displacement.
 
Just stay away from that Dr. Bob feller over there at IA...he's been known to make 1400 owners cry. He even passed some sport bikers on a little 800cc cruiser once on the Dragon.
 
My time was off a bit...forgot timezone change. :)

We're heading out around 8:30 am I think....should take about 4.5 - 5 hours to get there. I guess we'll all arrive around the same time...cept for those already there.
