what is the difference between the biology major and pre-biology major?

i was accepted to ucsb and i switch my major from chemical engi to bio since i want to go into the medical field but they put me as pre biology. is that ok or wat should i do???

My guess is that during your first year at the university, they have you as pre-biology and wait until you pass all of your first-year courses to promote you to the actual biology major. At my school, I was called an "entry-level biology major" before I picked my specific biology major.
