What is the difference between herodotus and thucydides in terms of recording history?

Herodotus was more of a teller of tales - for instance the marvellous speeches that he and Thucydides recorded in their histories were'nt the exact speeches the leaders delivered, but they show truly the eloquence of these men.
Thucydides was analytical, and tried to show all of the causes of the Peloppesian War.
 
H came first and is known for being the "father of history," that is, the earliest, or one of the earliest, historians.
His work recorded the Persian Wars, that is, the war between the Greeks and Persians. The Greeks won this war and continued to be independent of foreign control
T, also fifth century but later, wrote on the Peloponesian War, that is, the war in which Sparta and allies waged war against Athens. Sparta and others felt that Athens was becoming too strong; it was acquiring an empire and dominating many other areas of Greece.
Sparta won this war.
