What is the difference between Hellenic and Hellenistic civilizations?

In your answer, please include the persian wars and the peloponisian wars. How did those wars first unite the Greeks? Think about the accomplishments of the Hellenistic empire of Alexander the great, focus on math and science. Why couldn’t Alexander’s empire survive without him?
