What is the difference between a Yamaha dreadnought guitar and one that is

not a dreadnought? my friend has a yamaha guitar and I also have a yamaha guitar, but his is a little smaller than mine. I asked him about this and he said, it was because his was NOT a dreadnought.
I was wondering what is the difference between the two, or is it just the size of the guitar?
