i just put in new subwoofers and i wired them in a series and they sound fine. the subwoofers are 400 watts rms single voice coil. my amp puts out 500 watts @ 4 ohms and 900 @ 2 ohms. would it be worth it to try to wire my woofers in parallel in order to reach an impedance of 2 ohms? would this improve or hurt the sound quality?
i have two subs by the way

and anyone that says two should be shot

the lower the ohms, the lower the quality and higher the distortion. Also, the less ohms, the harder your amp is working and the more likely it is to overheat. if your speakers are already loud enough, then keep them how they are.
