What is the "curse" of the Chrysler 2.7 Liter engines?

They are american. I think the reason the intrepids blew up and yours didnt can be attributed to the fact that the intrepid ways much more. Just a guess. The 2.7L is just a rental car engine. They cut costs everywhere and slapped it together. Now the 3.0 V6 from them isnt bad, then again mitsubishi probably has a large role in building it...

I know 2 people who had 2002 Intrepids with a 2.7L and they both "blew up" at 130,000 miles. I have a 1999 Chrysler Concorde with a 2.7L and have had minimal problems with it. It needs a new oil cap but that is it other than regular wear and tear. I've had the car for 5 years and has 148,000 miles on it.

Is my car's engine ready to blow and has there ever been a record of 2.7L engines still going with being rebuilt?
