The "Red Dragon"(name stolen from Old School) is a 1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport, 4.0, 4X4, Automatic, 246K. She has seemed to lost a canister that is located near her passenger side front bumper. I know it's NOT her primary EVAP/Charcoal canister because that is located near her heater blower, close to the firewall. It is the shape of a football, but much more round at the tips and slightly larger.
Ol' Red has been too strong for too long but she just started throwing her check engine light after about 15 minutes of operation, followed by poor performance and poor fuel economy. The code is 51, a lean fuel condition. Will the absence of this football shaped canister cause a lean fuel condition? If so, where specifically can I get one of these canisters? I have searched Quardrarac, 4WD.com, Autozone, Ebay, and general search engines without having sighted one of the previously described football canisters. I can get a EVAP/Charcoal canister but I can't find this little football canister deal. Thank you for the help!
