what is the book vampire academy about?

I cant find much about it and im interested to know what its about before i buy it. and how many books are their in that series? full details please :) thank you!
 
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead is about a dhampir (half-human, half-vampire) girl named Rose, who has taken her best friend, Lissa, a Moroi (good vampire) princess out of school for two years because someone was threatening Lissa and Rose felt that it was dangerous inside of their school. One day, they school finds them and they meet Dimitri (a dhampir guy who is "the guy" of the series) who brings them back to the school.

There are going to be six books in the series, but currently there is only three out, but the fourth one (in Australia) is coming out on the 31st of August, but I think the 25th of August in America

Three out of the 6 books are out now, the next one comes out on the 25th! Im freaking so excited!!!!!!
