I want to thank those who answered or gave me advice on this question. I don't have a great deal of money but I was thinking of starting a small business from my home. Now I have a really good idea, I want to start a tshirt design company. I live in a small town so I think it could do well. I also want to build a website to sell the shirts on as well. I have lots of great ideas & I think I could possibly pull it off. Could anybody give me any sound advice on getting started? I would be grateful on any help you could share with me.

Make money. Sell t-shirts every day. Keep selling t-shirts. Get customers every way you can. Sell t-shirts. Sell more t-shirts.

1) Have "sound" business plan.

2) Pretty much follow your plan, which includes expense estimates and income estimates etc..

3) Consult with a reliable CPA to help with your bankable business plan, and learn of any tax credit/deduction, benefits and paperwork.

4) And, OR, You can get free, professional help from your local Small Business Development Center, (SBDC) it may be a town or so away if you live in a small town. They are partnership efforts of the SBA and a local college or university. They exist to help people just like you, with a business idea and a little money, have the best chance of succeeding in your community. They will guide you, or teach you, how to write your business plan, plus much much more. And, or, they may question the wisdom of your idea, BEFORE YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY.

Good luck.
