What is the best way to rinse off your reel after fishing in saltwater?

I usually just rinse it off with the hose.
I heard that soaking in water is good,
should it be warm?hot?cold?

I use a garden hose and its cold. I am not likely to use warm or hot. It might melt any lubrication in the reel.

I recommend taking the line off at least once a year and washing it also to get any salts that may cling to the spool and cause corrosion.
