We had a weedy driveway strip and we just used a weed eater to cut the weeds low then we put down black plastic and bark. We had a few humps form under the plastic as some of the daylillys tried to grow back but we just put more bark over the humps and eventually they flattened out again. I, personally don't like using weed killer. I'm afraid of killing surrounding plants. The bushes seem to like the new environment and are thriving!
