I'm 19, I don't have a degree (other than my HS diploma) or much experience. My last job was cashiering at a grocery store for 11 months. I need a job like NOW!Websites like careerbuilder and monster keep giving me search results that all require either special experience, skills, or education that I don't have...Like nursing, advertising, or managerial stuff. All I want is an entry level job, that is not related to Fast Food!I've tried Craigslist, and I haven't gotten any responses.I went to the mall, and they aren't hiring. Most of all the other places do their applications online, and they'll end up turning me down before my application is even sent in....What can I do here that I'm not doing???

I think your chances are better if you turn off the computer and start hitting the business locations in your city or town. I notice that all of you young people know computers inside and out. So, if you are cyber-searching, you are not alone. One specific job area that usually grows during downturns in the economy is the pawn shop business. I would knock on some pawn shop doors or other small loan businesses.

As someone who operated a successful restaurant for almost 20 years I like to see young people start at entry level work in good food service.. If you can get in the kitchen moving up is just a matter of showing interest and aptitude. Think about it.

DON'T GET DISCOURAGED!!! That is the number one thing you can do for yourself, is to not get discouraged.I have great work history (I'm 19 as well). I have 2 1/2 Years as a Lighting/Sound Technician and Trainer, 1 1/2 Years at a Fine Dining restaurant as a Server, and 1 year at American Eagle, and I still can't find a freaking job. The job market is so dead right now because of the economy!! Its not you. But, you do need to step up your game. Get out from behind your computer and go door to door. Then when you fill out an application, if they don't contact you within three days, GIVE THEM A CALL. Being persistent never hurts you!!!!Good luck!!! =)
