patience is a virtue which as an author you must posess. It takes quite a while for editing and publishing that even if you finished the book in the next month, you'd be thirteen or fourteen before it was actually published. And you can't just pull a best selling novel out of thin air. It's about appealing to the masses at the right time, I mean, I never would have guesses that Twilight would be a bestseller the first time it came out. In fact, when I was first asked about it, I said that it would be one of those books that was good but would be underappreciated and unlikely to go far. Though now people are sick of Twilight. Your goal would be to write a book which will appeal to the masses for years, and those story ideas are rare and hard to come by.
