I have aluminum wheels that I wanted to clean up. I started with 150 grit emery cloth and moved my way up paying careful attention to sanding out any scratches. The problem is I had to skip grits and when I got to 1500, I polished the wheel and it had a dull shine to it. There were no scratches but the wheels I did last year look like mirrors and this one looks pretty dull. The only difference was the other wheels I started with 800 because they werent as bad. For this wheel I did 150 to 320 to 400 to 800 to 1500. Im going to pick up the right supplies tomorrow but out of curiosity does anyone have a good technique for high quality shine?
