what is the best lang for web 2.0 PHP, .net frame work or AJAX?

I know what is web2.0
i am a .net programmer and i use 3.5 VB 2008.. and with .net.. can we achive a fully functional site.. with good performance???????
thanks for the answer XXX.. but i want to know what is lacking in .net compare to php??
