Im looking into buying a hunting/hiking dog and i need one that is healthy and is able to walk/run long distances and be able to walk up hill long distances.
I will be hiking in both warm and cold conditions and will be hunting both birds and rabbits. but really don't need the dog for hunting. I NEED A VERY HEALTHY BREED!!!

Labrador i have a chocolate, he is full of energy. but please adopt

Most any dog in the sporting group would make a great hiking dog.
As for hunting, it depends on what you're planning to hunt.
If you're looking to buy from a breeder, your best bet would be to find one who actively participates in hunting activities with his/her dogs and can show the dogs are proven in their abilities. (these breeders area also a great resource for training tips, etc)

Rabbit hunting - you need a Beagle

but for Bird you need a Retriever or Lab and they would be great for walks too my buddy has a Retriever he takes on 12 mile hikes and the dog stays right with him no leash or even whistle!

the Britney Spaniel is another great dog and would good for bird hunting as well!

border collies, one of the smartest dogs, easily trained and
great in the outdoors.

Chesapeake Bay Retriever

They are gorgeous, can go all day. Are a hunters DREAM dog. VERY tolerant to different weather conditions. Plus being they aren't the most popular breed out there they tend to be very hardy and healthy.

I grew up with this breed and they are very stubborn but fairly biddable. The best companion you will find for a field dog. I don't remember a time in my life without a Chessie by my side.

What do you want it to hunt? Different dog breeds for different methods of hunting.
