What is the best Harry Potter movie?

3rd and 5th movies for me
Prisoner of Azkaban introduces us to Sirius and the movie is fabulously dark - and Order of the Phoenix starts off with the Death Eaters coming again and things being dark from the off so yeah, 3 and 5 for me. 1 and 2 introduced us to everyone and 4 was a bit of a filler - I suspect 6 might be similar (although I hope not!) and then 7 and 8 (seeing as 7 is being split into 2 movies) should be action packed! :)

I liked the 3rd and 4th.
I didn't like 5th because it was a bit too confusing even though i've read the books and maybe that made it worse because they jumped the order around.

My biggest gripe is that they didn't fully explain the Animagus bit.
It was mentioned but never explained.

Basically (for those who haven't read the books) - the Maurders map was made by 4 people. Wormtail, Moony, Prongs and Padfoot. That bit is mentioned. it is also mentioned that Wormtail is Peter Pettigrew, aka Scabbers (Ron's rat).
What is also mentioned very briefly is that Moony is Professor Lupin, the werewolf (hence why he knows all about the map) and Padfoot is Sirus Black, the dog/wolf.
What isn't mentioned at all is that the 4th person of the group, Prongs, is Harry's dad who was a stag - which is why Harry's Patronus takes the form of a stag.

Personally I think it's relevant enough for them to have mentioned it at least once.
Either that or don't bother explaining who the other 3 three are!

IMO, none of the films are a tad on the books. However, the third one is my favourite, except I cringe at the "HE WAS THEIR FRIEND" speech. I hated the fourth movie, but then again I wasn't keen on the fourth book. Hopefully, 'Deathly Hallows' will be immense, even if it is done in two parts.

In answering the question, the 3rd is my fave. Though I love the 5th one as well, almost as good as the 3rd.

Most disappointing was Goblet of Fire...my fave book (until the 7th came out), but the film was pretty cack :( The soundtrack was just awful too

The books are much better than the films, i still enjoy them though:D POA is my favourite. OOTP annoyed me because they didnt explain the implications of the prophecy propely, especially as it's so crucial to the final two books.

Goblet of Fire is my favourite. I also have a soft spot for the Philosophers Stone as it's the first HP film.

I was underwhelmed with the Prisoner of Azkaban - incidently, it's one of my favourite HP book.

OOTP and Chamber of Secrets are ok movies.

But like most, i prefer the books over the movies.

Goblet of Fire was my favourite.
Order of the Phoenix was ruined by the Voldemort/Dumbledore fight at the end with fire and water etc. Way too OTT.

The fifth one but then again it is the best book, and I also love Dolores.

Fourth one was a shambles really, if I hadn't have read the book I would not have had an utter clue. A mess, even though it's a good book.

I think all the films are garbage, saved only by the likes of Alan Rickman and Jason Isaacs.

Mind you I don't like the books much either, since I discovered fan fiction! Oh how wonderful it is to have rounded characters instead of Rowling's cardboard cut outs.

I also can't think how they're going to explain in Half Blood Prince film, that Harry can't get into the Room of Requirement to Draco, when in the film prior to HBP, Umbridge just waved her wand and the wall fell down.

I sometimes wonder if the screen writers have any concept of plot continuity.

I've been very satisfied with the films to date. When I first went to see Philosopher's Stone, I remember being really annoyed that the film wasn't following the book down to a T (for example, the absence of Piers Polkiss from the outset), but I know how unreasonable it was to expect them to include everything now, and they are an absolutely fab collection of films. I love watching the children grow up with each one, it really gives the series so much credibility: even minor characters star in each and every one, such as Seamus Finnigan and Dean Thomas.

The first two are pretty comparable - really nice, cheesey and warming (just like the books). Number 3 was very good owing to a dramatic improvement in all the kiRAB' acting (especially Radcliffe's), but as someone already mentioned they did leave out some important stuff, like not really filling the audience in on the animagus/Marauder's Map saga, which is quite a good part of the book.

Number 4 is my personal favourite, can't really explain why, there was just very little wrong with it (well, except the revealing of Moody to really be Barty Crouch Junior and not explaining how that came to be the case). 5 was good, not the best but they cast the newly-introduced characters very well IMO: Umbridge, Tonks, Kingsley, and Luna in particular were all perfect. Considering the book is probably the weakest of the 7 they really managed to make a good film out of it if you ask me.

I'm looking forward to HBP. It's a great book and there aren't millions of different stories going on at the same time, so it should (hopefully) be an easy-paced film that includes the important parts of the book. Apparently it's supposed to be a lot lighter and funnier (in terms of all the love plots going on), which I think would be a welcome relief from the darkness of the previous two.

My main hang-up is that the girl who plays Ginny, pretty as she is, isn't the "hot stuff" she's made out to be in the book, but as she's been in all the films so far I wouldn't have it any other way!

funnily me and my frienRAB were talking about this last night because we were comparing the HP and Twilight adaptations.

1+2 were pretty bad when you watch them back although they do reflect the younger tone of the books. They are fine the first time but not that good on second showing imo. The acting from the young ones is cringeworthy at times. Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite book and I do think the film reflects the series is getting darker but there are massive probs in this film - mainly not explaining major parts of it. If I hadn't read it I don't think I would have known what was going on. Also I think Gary Oldman as Sirius is bad casting (too old for one) and as he is my fav HP character that was frustrating for me.

I think Goblet is probably the best but also has flaws. It's prob my second fav book and I think the film handled most of the story well. I thought the aftermath of Cedric's death was shocking though. I sobbed while reading it and it was so emotional, shocking and made the reader realise it's not just a childrens book esp killing off a young boy but the film decided to pretend like no one cared.
I also liked the Order of Phoenix mainly for Dolores who was played brilliantly by Imelda Staunton.

All in all I think the films are pretty poor versions when you compare all the wonderful detail and great supporting characters in the books. I will watch the last two but it's the books I'll be returning too again and again.

Can't really choose between POA and OOTP. Really enjoyed the time turner scene which was done brilliantly. The fighting scenes at the end of OOTP was great. I'd say all the films are brilliant but POA and OOTP for me.

Really? I cried more at the film than the book! I thought it was very dramatic - the way everyone was cheering and then slowly people started to realise what had happened, it really got to me - especially Amos' reaction.

But I guess it would've been more effective if he'd been included more in the film in the first place, or introduced earlier in the series.

My favourites would have to be 3 and 5.
Although I don't like the films much at all.
I'd probably have stopped watching them by now if Rupert Grint hadn't turned into a bit of a hottie lol
Shallow moi? Nooooo lol

I love seeing them just to see whether things looked like I imagined and also to see what bits they've left out. It been a reasonable attempt at the books so far, I mean no movie is as good as the book but some films butcher them. I think they've got the casting pretty good so far as well. I think my fav is movie 5.
