What is the best Harry Potter movie?

I have recently starting watching the Harry Potter movies, currently I'm just about to watch the third one.

Wondering what peoples opinions are about which is the best of the movies, I'd say the first two films are about on a par - although I've been told the later ones are better and get darker in tone.

I was a bit disappointed by Order of The Phoenix to be honest. Really liked the first two, Goblet of Fire wasn't quite so good. Phoenix didn't really grab me at all.

I think it's because Daniel Radcliffe seems too old now. I've never read the books but I presume he is still a young boy in them. It just doesn't seem right with him still doing the movies. Not for me anyway.

One of the things I kind of enjoy about the movies is watching the kiRAB grow up.

Malfoy seems to get dramatically older with each film. Dan Radcliffe and Hermoine get gradually older, whereas Rupert Grinch has obviously gone through puberty at some point between the second and third movies.

I've never read the books so don't know how good they are at getting it from book to film, but going by the films my favourites are Prisoner, and Phoenix. Four was boring for me, the other two I enjoyed but not up there for me compared to the two I like.

I love the 3rd one i think the most, even though its been destroyed by ITV and other channels who always have it on!! The 4th and the 5th are great too, i recently had a Harry Potter marathon:D theyre greats films!:) I love Gary Oldman and Sirius Black:cry:

prisoner of azkaban, (3rd one) as it was a nice relief from the first 2 which were clearly cheeseball kid films, but 3rd added some darkness to it which was much needed i think

Order of the Pheonix.

Goblet of Fire is awful. Prisoner of Azkaban isn't very good at all, there's no "scary" moments and the comedy is poor. The story isn't explained well either. Chamber of Secrets is okay, and Philosophers Stone is pretty good but IMO the 5th one is the best. :D

I'm a book purist so I'm not overly fond of any of them but I thought Order of the Phoenix did very well to be as coherent as it was when you consider the amount they had to change and leave out from the original story. Credit where due, it was a good film in its own right just as long as you don't compare it to the book.

I think the first two films are absolutely dire and unwatchable though. Radcliffe, Grint and Waston really don't give anything but almost-bad performences until Azkaban, where they finally begin to mature and improve. The direction by Columbus is just pitiful, which didn't help anything.

It surprises me that you say that actually..
I thought the complete opposite.. everybody I spoke to who had seen OotP but not read the books told me they didn't have the foggiest idea what was going on. I only knew what was happening because I've read the books quite a good few many times..

yet, for me.. I thought PS was the best for keeping the story close to the story and for holding all the magical, warmly qualities Hogwarts has to offer. It didn't matter for me that the actors were a bit wooden; the screenplay and cinematography for me were enough.

For me, it was Goblet of Fire that they messed up. Big time. The ending was totally vile. Oh, never mind the very sudden, violent death of a classmate, as long as we're frienRAB it will be alright? Hollywood nonsense that puts an extremely sinister and unhealthy message about emotions across.

POA and OOTP are my favourite Potter films if I had to choose. My only real beef with OOTP is that they might as well not have bothered with Tonks for the amount of screen time they gave her, but otherwise I like it well enough as a movie so long as I don't think about the book.

My favourite is the third one,but I think the best were the first two. I didn't like GOF and hated OOTP, so I'm afraid I haven't got high hopes for the rest since it's going to be David Yates in charge of them all.
