What is the best FREE software to use in order to edit flv clips into a montage?

I have a bunch of clips from my youtube account that I want to combine/ edit into a montage. There a million different kinds of editing software available, so it's kind of hard to know what is good and what isn't. I will be using the software on XP.
 
Since .FLV format is an acronym for Flash Video format, I would first recommend one of Adobe's Creative Suites that includes either Flash itself or Flash Builder (an allegedly easier version of Flash, but 'easier' is subjective).
