i really want a camera to use to take pictures but i dont want it to be over $500..do you know any good ones?
digital camera

try the nikon d60. Its a good camera that is like an entry level. It's also a really good 10.2mp camera with VR, interchangable lens capability, as well as other features. I have the D60 and its awesome, but if you ae looking for cheaper....the D40 is just a couple steps below.

Go to Target.com, Bestbuy.com, and Amazon.com and search. You can find so many cameras there, but you really need one 10 MP or above as ones below that do not take good quality pictures.
I suggest getting a digital SLR camera, as they have a lot more things on them to choose how to take the picture.

Film or Digital? Manual or Autofocus? dSLR or Point & Shoot?

The Canon Elan 7e and Nikon N90s are remarkably cheap and well-built.

Ah, digital, OK, it's your money. You might look into the Canon G10 or the Canon Rebel XS. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canong10/page24.asp
