What is the best camera for dentistry photography?

I love going to the dentist, the smell of the chemicals and the taste of my dentists fingers. So many great memories.

When I was little I use to mark the date of my next visit to the dentist on my calender, then cross the days off untill my next visit. The best moments of my life were at the dentist.

Unfortunately due to the credit crunch I cant afford to go to the dentist every month now. Also Attila has retired and the new dentist wears gloves and smokes menthol.

So I will start my own dentistry surgery and photography studio in the spare room. I need to buy all the tools and a camera for my xrays, best film also please?

Any advice is good but will be rejected. Only your best answers please!

wow, i thought i was weird... but ive worked taking photos of scar damage following motor accidents...

all you need is lots of bright light to remove shadows, and i'd suggest a fill flash, so your obvious excitement doesnt show as camera shake.

and one doesnt record x rays on conventional film, and your mum might object to radiography isotopes, which are radioactive, littering the back garden, and glowing...

might i suggest you goto the butchers and get a pigs head, and boil off the flesh, there you have a perfect skull, with lots of teeth, to practice with... at least it wont scream or move around...

always use a tripod, stand back and zoom in, then enlarge and crop back to size for maximum detail, you can use macro upto about 1.5m...

Oh god help us all, first Bubba and now this. Well Sam should be a pretty good resource. And yes we know you'll reject our advice particularly if it's any good, that is pretty much standard procedure for this kind of question. Anyway you can get a D40 for cheap with the 18-55 kit lens and then find a ring flash for macro work. Sticking all that into the patients mouth might take some doing but once you get it will work fine. And as an added benefit whatever complaints your patient had will seem trivial compared to the fact that their lower jaw will now be unhinged and extremely painful.
As for the x-ray stuff, what you need x-rays for? Did Attila ever use them? Use your eyes, if something is wrong, pull something out.
