What is the best baby swing?

So i know that some go side to side, and some go back and fourth. Is there any trends that youve noticed in different age groups or just overall with baby swings? How about the ones that make noise? The ones that swing fast or slow?
Im not a mother, btw. Im just wondering because i have a teacher who is expecting.
 
I have for my son the Sweet peace made by Grace. It;s a little on the Pricey side but its awesome! It makes the sounds of the womb and plays music it has 6 different speeds. You can also plug in ur ipod or mp3 and t will play that. It also plugs in to the wall so you are not constantly buying batteries
 
I've heard the Fisher Price Cradle swing are the best. If you get the Rainforest one it has a plug in feature, so you can save on batteries. If you don't like the price on them you can always try Ebay, Craigs list or Once Upon a Child.
 
I don't know what is the best, but I will tell you which one I didn't like.

I did NOT like the Fisher Price Open Top Cradle Swing. It looks great and it is great for a newborn. But, there are only 2 recline positions and they aren't that much different between the two. It moves front to back and side to side, but even on the highest setting it was very slow. It was great that it could plug in though. Also, once your baby sits up, they can't get in the swing anymore, it's a tipping hazard. So, for some babies sitting up at 4 months, you've wasted all that money for a swing that you can only use for 4-5-6 months!

Read the product reviews, they are incredible! Saved me soooo many times from buying a product that was not a good investment!
