What is the best approach to take with my young female boss?

I have recently come under the supervision of a new boss, and was looking for some advice as to whether my approach is correct.
While she is young - she is 24, I'm 31 - she has an incredibly strong and fairly authoritarian mindset, for example I am required to address her formally as either 'Miss Barrett' or 'Ma'am'. I have no issue with this, and since she started I have been the perfect subserviant employee - agreeing to her requests (well, demands), and putting in some overtime.
What I am curious to know is if this is the correct approach - I don't want to spend the forseeable future spending my days saying 'yas Miss Barrett, anything you say Ma'am', only to have a boss in the future expect me to think more independantly. On the other hand, my boss is clearly a woman who is going places - am I better to stick at it, and hope that by showing my ability to perform as expected, I will be able to fit into my boss's old position as she moves up the ranks?
