the benedicts test is a solution of copper sulphate,sodium hydroxide and tartaric acid.Aqueous glucose is mixed with the benedicts test and heated.The reaction reduces the blue copper ion to form a brick red precipitate of copper oxide.Because of this glucose is classified as a reducing sugar.Basically its a test for reducing sugars.
