What is the average swing speed for a 6 iron?

I recently got fitted for some new irons and my swing speed with a 6 iron was 99. Is that good or bad because I have been told I swing fast but people say its fast at impact not from the top? I was just wondering because I am trying to fix on a certain tempo so I can be more consistent with my distance,(i carry my 6 iron about 190 now) and I want to know if I should slow down, pick it up, or keep it how it is. Thanks.
 
It sounds like your club (head) speed increases as it nears the ball. That is precisely what you want to have happen.
It's like one of those giant roller coaster rides where the little train huffs and puffs to get to the highest peak and then goes over the top and begins plunging down into the valley going faster and faster and faster till it reaches the bottom and starts up the next hill.
That's what your golf club should do. The faster you swing the farther your ball goes...not the HARDER you swing but the faster you swing. There is a difference.
190 yards is very good distance with a six iron. Don't change a thing.
 
if you hit it well, keep it the way it is, but if you fell that you arnt comfortable with it, slow down the backswing, a good bit! thats what i did! i swing slower now, besides, what is the point in trying to kill a 6 1ron to got 200 yards when you could comfortablly and relaxedly swing a 5 iron to get the same yardage :)
