not sure what your asking. brakes or gear? The reason why some riders have no brakes is it makes it easier to do tricks off the ramp without sacrificing light weight. for fixed gear, basically less chain slap, rattling noise from the chain and deraileur and less weight when hitting bumps, ramps or any harsh trails.
