What is reasonable? How do you decide when it's enough? Doesn't that rule seem vague especially with the Castle Doctrine in play as well? The rule that says you don't have to retreat.
I have attended the CCW course and this was not covered in any great detail...Common sense has got to be the way to go?

Easy enough. Reasonable fear for my life is that the attacker has a weapon of some sorts and is attacking me or my family......it gets grey with helping total strangers.

How do I decide? When I see that weapon out....it's fair game for me to pull the trigger.

Your question is one of the reasons that anyone considering a concealed carry gun should take training classes. Those classes discuss the proper use of force and how to determine when and if and how much force is to be used.

You can not make a law so specific that you cover every likelihood of the use of force. There are just too many variables. What is used is the "Reasonable Man Test". The jury is asked if a reasonable man would act as you did under the same circumstances. Essentially, it is a test of common sense.
