What is one book or play you think schools should read and discuss in class? Don't say any that schools already make students read for school. :D

The Saga of Darren Shan.
It expresses war, love, jealousy, hatred, character growth and racism in a fun way. You have to say, when humans have these things, it's boring, when it's vampires, it's fun.

Harry Potter.
Same reason as Darren Shan, but for wizards.

FOR GOD'S SAKE I WILL HONESTLY KILL ANYONE WHO SAYS FREAKIN TWILIGHT! I'll bomb any school who teaches it to kids. It DESTROYS literature with it's useless mary-sues and sparkles.

The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck.

Controversial on its publication date, and controversial today, this Pulitzer Prize winning novel tells us the human cost of the greed and short-sightedness of capitalism run amok during the Great Depression. Its lessons are as valuable today as they were then as we see today's corruption of capitalists and their 'grab it now, f^ck the future,' values.
