What is more addictive?

Hello. I have a question about anesthesia.

Does anyone know which of these drugs is more addictive? Lorazepam or Propofol. I know Lorazepam is highly addictive, and Propofol is a pretty strong drug. So that's why I want to know which one is MORE addictive in anesthesia.

They're both used for different things...no comparison actually. What's the reason you're having to make the decision...for a colonoscopy or test like that where the decision is for you to be knocked out or to just have a med to have you a bit more relaxed?

Neither are addictive if you're having them once for a procedure.

Neither of those reasons. I'm doing no tests and the only medication I'm taking are some children's calcium gummies (that adults can also take).

I just want to know because I'm curious and interested, at least for none of those reasons above that you mentioned.

Since you asked which one is "more addictive in anesthesia" I'm going to say neither as one would not have enough anesthesia-required procedures to develop an addiction to either. You'd need to have almost daily procedures requiring anesthesia for this to happen and that's fairly unlikely...and people like burn patients, etc who need treatment procedures regularly are generally kept in medically induced comas and brought out of it as needed and monitored to properly detox.

thanks for the answer

I have another question. For the burned victims, what happens if you don't put the patient into the coma? It is really necessary to be put into a coma if someone is recieving the drug regularly like them?

The drug is being used to anesthetize them. With burn victims and others, it's too keep them calm and still and not aware of the pain they are in. If they were too lucid, they might hurt terribly, thrash about and cause problems, etc. It's done as a healing tool.
