What is meant by a bad subframe. I am looking at bidding on a car?

I am looking at bidding on a 1996 Pontiac Transport Van. In the details it says that it has a bad subframe. Please help me out with an explanation as to what this would be and what could fix this.
 
the only thing that will fix the sub frame is a I-car body shop or to replace the sub frame.i personally would stay away from anything with frame damage.the problems you will have if not repaired properly will be abnormal tire wear.trans problems.too many to list.
 
Bent subframe means it has been wrecked bad. Minimum cost for repairs will likely be over $2000.
 
Sounds like the floor is rotted out. You will see rust all around
the bottom if you get under there with a flashlight. Probably caused by road salt eating the sheet metal..

I'd back off this one. I'll bet you don't live in the northern area
of the country. Or a damp state..

Trust me ....watch out for this one..... Step on one of the floors
where your feet go and you may be able to power the van
by feet power like the FLINTSTONES...or will be able to soon.

It may have also been bent from a previous accident.
the body can be completely straight but the frame still bent
That's because changing fenders and doors are the easy part of body repair ( somewhat anyway compared to frame
straightening....

The sub frame is often the parts that the front or rear suspension members are bolted too.
The front one is often called the engine cradle.
To see it better try looking at the car-part.com site using the search by image option.
