What is making my Suzuki Swift '91 turn off when it's warm?

Okay, the other day the battery light came on for the first time after running the car for a bit. Car barely makes it around the corner when the lights on before losing all power and the engine turning off. I try to start it and the engine turns over quickly but takes a few go's to fire up (battery light turns on again). It'll only run for at most, another minute before turning off again. If I let it sit and wait until the engine is fairly cool and try to start it, it will start with no battery light on. The car will then drive again for anywhere up to the rest of the day. But if you turn it off then try to start it again, sure enough, the same issues.

What I have done: I thought maybe battery, so I purchased a new one. No difference. (I realized that the battery was still ok because the engine still turned quickly and when it did run I could have as much as I could using power and it would be fine, but it was an old battery so I thought i'd eliminate that). Next, I noticed that on of my spark plug leads was loose, so much so that it wouldn't pop off but just come out without any friction, and wouldn't pop back on either. So I replaced that one lead. Car ran fine for the rest of the day and night. But the same problems started the next day. I then noticed a large build up of oil on the front of my valve cover gasket so I got a new one of those and put it in. I also replaced all spark plugs and spark plug leads. The car seemed ok then, no battery light. Next day, it got me to work (about 30km's away) and almost all the way back before the battery light came on again and about 500m down the road, it lost all power once again.

In summary, I have replaced the:
Battery
Spark Plugs
Spark Plugs Leads
Valve Cover Gasket

I'm going to put it into the mechanic tomorrow but in case they can't figure it out, someone here may have had the same issue before. Help of any kind will be very helpful.

Thanks
