what is in shell fish that people are allergic to?

I want to know what is in all shell fish that triggers an allergic reaction.

For me or what makes me allergic to shell fish particularly Lobster is the iodine in there skin or shell. That is what I have been told.

iodine....When you get an IV for a contrast on a test like a CT scan - iodine is in the solution - if you are allergic to that or shell fish BEWARE!!!

Iodine! thats why you have to tell doctors you are allergic because alot of the stuff they use for cleaning and surgeries that involve dye is made with iodine!
