what is homecoming? is it a dance u have in highschool?

homecoming is a dance in highschool, usually towards the beginning of the year. at my high school we had a whole week devoted to it. homecoming week had a different theme for everyday and each grade would dress up and earn points to see who had the most spirit. it was pretty fun. then there was usually the homecoming football game at the end of the week and the dance the next night. and of course the homecoming queen and king. not a super formal dance. more like short cocktail type dresses. i so miss those! haha so much fun.
 
Homecoming is a social event where alumni have the opportunity to come back to their own high school to celebrate its spirit with all kinds of celebrations. Clubs involved, the marching band, a picnic, a football game, and a dance. During halftime at the football game, people announce who will be the home coming king and queen. Yes, it does include a dance and anyone is welcome.
