I'm writing a paper for my spanish class in school. We just finished watching a movie, Goal 2, in which a women is sexually assaulted by her brother-in-law. Instead of telling her husband, she runs away. The question I have to answer in the report is how her culture may have played a role in her decision to run away. I've tried searching hispanic culture, marital values, and the roles of women, but have come up with nothing. Any ideas? Websites would be helpful!

Hispanic cultures vary from nationality to nationality. In some cultures women are still treated like the weaker link, and sometimes are not concidered anything more than someone who can cook and clean (this in he most extream cases of course). In a situation like this a repressed spanish women wolud either be horrified at what her husband my do to his own bother or that he may not even believe her and acuse her of being an adulterer. Im dominican so he most liklely scenary in our culture is for the huband to beat the brains out of he brother, but like I said it changes from country to country.
Hope I could help at least a bit. If you know the nationality of the family in the movie searh directly for subjects like womens role in (and the name of the country)
